Over the past few years it has become increasingly clear that many litigants in this practice area need lawyers with not only a broad set of legal skills, but also a global, or at least trans-Tasman knowledge of proceeds law. I have decided my practice will attempt to rise to meet this challenge in 2024.
In 2024, I will begin to take steps to become admitted in Australia (this may take some time given regulatory requirements are different in each state). In my opinion, it is important that I can appear in Australian Courts and represent proceeds clients' interests in Australia in the coming years.
I would like to thank Australian (and Canadian) members of the public who have contacted me, increasingly, since 2023. It is a privilege to be recognised by potential proceeds of crime clients who live outside of New Zealand.
Yours faithfully Jessica Matheson
